The Om symbol has long been used as the prime chant in many systems of meditation. Mystics and spiritualists consider Om to be one of the primal sounds of Creation.
Creative tattoo artists have fused the popular flower tattoos with Sanskrit tattoo designs to create some very beautiful, stylish images. The lotus flower, together with the "Om" symbol are starting to become popular.
Traditional tattoo is taken as the symbol of wealth, social status, and class distinction in many countries and tribes. However, tattoo is more than an art which liked by most people. “Human body art is the most beautiful artwork”, said by Augeuste Rodin, the most famous sculptor in France. But traditional tattoo hurts very much as it is done by tattoo needle pierced into the body. So many people feel afraid of the pain. They hunt for a way of body art which is gentle and with no pain. What’s more, fashion is changeable everyday, and they don’t want to be out of day by the traditional tattoo. Airbrush temporary tattoo comes to cater to their needs.
Airbrush temporary tattoo body art has been very popular in western countries. In American, almost every city has 40 to 50 professional airbrush tattoo parlors. All these parlors are nothing more than art workshops where body artists pay all their energy, dreams and sensitivity to the life and then create many attractive and unique designs by taking human’s body as canvas.
A swallow over a sunset with Jack tattooed underneath. While he was filming one of his most celebrated movies, Pirates of the Caribbean, he had to wear a fake version of these tattoos. He liked it so much that he had them permanently inked on his right forearm. Contrary to what people may have assumed, Jack is in honor of his son, and not his character Jack Sparrow. He also had the swallow tattoo inverted so that it is flying towards him. As he mentioned in one of his interviews in 2004, he always wants his son to come back to him.
Dove tattoos in Chinese Society are used as a symbol of a long and healthy life. The Celts and other ancient people held that doves Along with other types of birds were messengers bringing omens of good or evil. Dove is also a persons name and in both the scottish and irish native language the Boys name "Callum" is a translation of Dove.
Sometimes if greater power or wisdom was wanted tattoos were said to do the trick! Unlike the hygienic tattoo parlors of today Native American tattooing was done out in the open using fish and sharp turtle bones or even slivers of rock as needles to etch the tattoo into the skin. Wilson's Heart Reminds Him of a Painful Loss

Today I'm posting two hearts, spotted on the same day, from two different people in two different places.

First up is Wilson, who has a lot of ink, most of which is tribal-style.

He decided to share, however, this deeply personal piece on his left bicep:

Wilson had this inked after his wife left him and took his kids. It was immensely painful and he found that this tattoo, a heart with a knife through it, helped him heal a lot.

In fact, he said, that six months after she left him, Wilson's wife called him back and made overtures toward reconciliation. He says he looked at his tattoo, a symbol of the pain he had endured, and told her no.

He is hazy about the place where he had this done, but believes it was at a shop in Atlantic City.

Thanks to Wilson for sharing his tattoo with us here on Tattoosday!

Jessica's Heart Flutters With Birds

Above, I mentioned a man with a heart on his outer left bicep.

Later that same day, I met Jessica on the R train.

A California transplant now living in Brooklyn, she had this beautiful heart done at the Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Convention:

It's your standard heart on the sleeve motif, but this piece is a little more biologically correct and features two small birds holding a ribbon up around it.

Jessica wasn't sure of the name of the artist on whom this work was based, but the end result was a tattoo that recalled the original piece, although not copying it.

This tattoo was inked in a little over an hour at the convention by Rick Lohm at Scarab Body Art Studio in Syracuse, New York.

Work from Scarab has appeared previously here on Tattoosday.

Thanks to Jessica for sharing her tattoo with us here on Tattoosday!
